Donna Gordon stop by to talk about her recent health journey. Back in April, Donna completely changed her diet and started working out. She was able to lose 80 pounds in 7 months! Also her doctor, Dr. Tucker from Bienville Orthopaedic Specialists, joins us to talk about the health benefits of her life style change.

Donna, Thank you so much for having the courage to share your story! You have been such an inspiration to me! I started my journey seriously about a year ago, and I don’t have to tell you it hasn’t been easy. I lost my thyroid gland to cancer around 2017 and the weight just piled on causing my already bad knees to go almost completely out. I too see Dr. Tucker for my knees and have been for quite some time now. Like you, he gave me “The Talk.” Explaining the risks of surgery at such an extraordinary weight. I still remember the day. February 2, 2024 was a wake up call! I was 417 pounds and really had no idea of how I could even start losing weight, for after all, I could barely walk and was in a wheelchair most of the time. After a couple of months of feeling sorry for myself I decided to get serious about trying to shed some weight. From February to July I lost a few pounds and that helped me to get serious. In July of 2024 I really started trying. Today October 1, 2025, I am at 296 pounds. I’ve been on my journey a little over a year now. I happened to see Dr. Tucker today and he said my surgery could be in the near future as long as everything continues to go well. I’m excited and scared and many emotions all at the same time. Hearing your story has helped me to overcome most of my fear and doubt. Now that I’ve heard how well everything went for you and how healthy you are, it is giving me the positive outlook I need! I hear the joy in your voice!! I want that!! I’m so thankful for having a doctor like Dr. Tucker and his team over at Bienville Orthopedic. They all really care and have helped me along in my journey. Just knowing I have a doctor that looks out for my overall all health and didn’t want to just cut me open when I first got there means a lot. I know I’m where I’m supposed to be and with the care team I’m supposed to be with. After today you have absolutely been my confirmation on that!! Thank you again for sharing.
